Dana Perino was born on May 9,1972 in Evanston, Wyoming. A few years later, she and her family moved to Denver, Colorado. Perino graduated from Colorado State University in 1997 where she studied mass communications, spanish, and political science. From there, Perino attended the University of Illinois to complete a masters degree in public affairs reporting.
Dana Perino then moved to England where she married Peter McMahon. After living in England for a year, Perino decided to relocate to Washington D.C. where she got a job as the Director of Communications for the White House Council on Environmental Quality in 2001. On March 31, 2006, Perino was named Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Press Secretary by President Bush. Perino dealt with environmental issues for the White House as well as handling announcments on natural resources and energy.
